Industry: Oil & Gas, Mining

Summary of My Role & Experience

As the lead organizational design consultant, I conducted a full-scale capability mapping, gap analysis,
and service delivery modeling for a mining client. I also led the Project Management Office (PMO),
ensuring knowledge exchange, stakeholder alignment, and risk mitigation.

Challenge

The client needed to consolidate global operations, streamline their operating model, and improve organizational efficiency. Key challenges included:
  • Capability Misalignment: Lack of alignment between current capabilities and business goals.
  • Operational Redundancies: Duplication of efforts across multiple regions.
  • Unclear Service Delivery Models: Inconsistent service delivery processes.

Solution

I conducted a current and future state capability assessment, identifying gaps and designing a new organizational structure to enhance operational efficiency. Key steps included:
  • Capability Mapping: Conducted across multiple regions
  • Gap Analysis: Assessed readiness for future state consolidation.
  • New Operating Model Design: Optimized service delivery.
  • RAID Analysis: Identified risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
  • Stakeholder Alignment Workshops: Ensured smooth transition.

Results

Streamlined global operations across multiple regions.
Increased service delivery efficiency through new org model.
Improved stakeholder engagement and alignment.
Strengthened PMO governance for project execution.

Key Takeaways

Clear capability mapping is critical
for large-scale transformations, and PMO
leadership ensures alignment and execution.
